Description from the Westminster University website:
"How small a thought it takes to fill a whole life..." This text by philosopher Ludwig Wichtenstein provides the foundation for the minimalist masterpiece Proverb by American composer Steve Reich. Reich borrows compositional ideas found in medieval French polyphonic music, by the 12th-century composer Pérotin. Celebrating this contrapuntal connection across the centuries will be sacred vocal music by Guatemalan Renaissance composer Hernando Franco along with Julius Eastman’s Joy Boy and Reich’s riveting Clapping Music and Nagoya Marimbas.”
